Henry Grant Kerswell is a British bass whose recent work has increasingly focused on substantial character and Wagnerian repertoire. His recent engagements include Fasolt in Wagner’s Das Rheingold for Grange Park Opera (cover) and Regents Opera, with a forthcoming debut as Gurnemanz in Parsifal for Regents Opera in 2027, directed by Sir David Pountney.

He has worked extensively with leading UK and international opera companies including Grange Park Opera, Wexford Festival Opera, Opera Holland Park, Scottish Opera, English Touring Opera, Opera de Baugé, Birmingham Opera Company and Bergen National Opera, as well as appearing at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. His repertoire encompasses Wagner, Verdi, Puccini, Mozart, Rossini, Donizetti and contemporary opera, with a particular strength in character-driven bass roles.

Recent work includes Simone in Gianni Schicchi, Dr Grenville in La Traviata, The Director of the Theatre in Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali, and roles in contemporary productions at Grange Park Opera and Wexford Festival Opera. His performances have been noted for their vocal presence, theatricality and distinctive characterisation.

Kerswell trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Alexander Gibson Opera School at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. He is an alumnus of the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme and Opera Holland Park Young Artists, and was a founding member of the Grange Park Opera Emerging Artists.

 He has trained with several voice teachers of note including Sherrill Milnes, Laura Sarti, Robert Dean and is currently a member of Pamela Kuhnes' studio.
